The 1st stop for foodies at Penang was at the hawker centre near to Sunrise Tower..

As Penang is a well-knowned food paradise housing a wide varieties of authentic local dishes, we ordered a table full of food!

Let's see...what we eat...

Overview of what we have ordered!Ice-Blended Red Bean Milkshake, which is locally known as 'Ang Dao Ka' in Hokkien, is the icon drink in Penang. I doubt we see this in Singapore ever in the Bubble Tea shop with a whole list of Ice-Blended drinks. Under the warm weather, the freezy drink chill the mind and cool the body down.
Popian... without 'defining' what is it... Most of the Singaporeans will have the taste in their mind! The one I have it in Penang seem to have more filling then Singapore. Inside the popian, the added in deep-fried pork skin bits (which as 'zhu you zha' in chinese).
This is a most favourite dish in Penang that we have even named it as 'Penang Laksa'. 'Singapore Laksa' is known as Curry Mee in Penang. And Assam Laksa is directly refer to Penang Laksa. The distinct difference between the one I have in Singapore and Penang is the soup base and the noodles.

The Soup Base is brewed using Assam fruits and shreds of steamed fishes. Singapore soup base is not as 'thick'/condensed as the Penang. On the 1st try, I fall in love with it especially the handmade udon-like transculent noodles... it's so chewy and goes very well with sour soup..!

Claypot Rice with raw egg on! We have to mix the ingredients and the rice together to get a uniform taste~ The highlight is definitely the 'crispy' rice that are found at the based. Once the pot is being mixed, the 'crisps' will be broken up and scatter. Thus, it forms a crispy taste among the 'soft' taste.
Curry Chee Cheong Fun is a new dish that I come across~ Adding in this dish, we can find fishballs, pig blood cubes, tau pok and slices of cuttlefish... MmmmMmmm!
Rojak... Didn't get the full name from my friend. The main ingredients are from the fried assortment (commonly known as 五香饼) and with a sweet peanut sauce over it. The toppings are cucumbers and carrot shreds...
五香饼, this is the fried assortment that the Chinese love. We will goes with the sauces (shown below). In order to 'mild' the tastes, cucumber slices are provided to refresh the taste buds.

Tom Yam maggi mee with fish slices and mint leaves is not a common dish in Singapore. The 'thick' soup of Tom Yam flavour and the springy maggi mee fit together nicely. The fried fish slices absorb the essence of the soup. Indeed, a ordinary dish can taste that fantastic!
Guess what is this? I think everyone in Singapore will say noodles with fishball (soup). It's not... The full name is Hokkien Mee! Hahha! It's the same name as the one we have fried one... After eating I think I still prefer the fried type. Definitely, the new 'breed' of the ingredients in soup is also worth trying!

Do you know where to find nice Myanmar food in Singapore? At... Peninsula Plaza! Once you step in, it's as if you have came to Myanmar.

My Burmese friend, Sue and I went to the Basement where most of the eateries can be found. After much consideration, we decided on this restuarant, Mya Nandar. In there, everyone communicate in Myanmar Language (should be known as Burmese).

Here are what we have eaten...

In the restuarant, I was the only Singaporean inside. Suddenly, I have a overseas feeling. Haha... Actually, the cuisine is rather Chinese & India style of cooking. This might be the influence of the neighbouring countries.

Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah

I think everyone have eaten Tau Sar Piah before... but I doubt you have tried the piping hot, soft filling & crisp (the pastry type of crisp...) pastry with bean filling. Mmmm...It's seriously very nice ah~ The taste buds at that moment connects with the heart and mind to give that very warm feeling! Haha... unbelieveable! I love the sesame seeds on top that enhance the taste of it!

This box of Tau Sar Piah is given by my mum's friend. She went all the way to Balestier Road to queue & purchase! This long established brand is indeed authentic and delicious... can't compare with the other brands!

Never will I see Secret Recipe menu having the same price of their dishes and cakes in RM and SGD! That's concluded that the Malaysia price is half of Singapore price. Eg... In Malaysia, RM 6.30 for a piece of cake = SGD 3.15. In Singapore, SGD 6.30 for the same piece of cake. I can buy 2 pieces of the same cake in Malaysia using the same aount I spent in Singapore. Aha...That's the point~

Many of the youngsters are going to JB for nice food. Although I'm not as young as them, I'm going for that too!

Jus a few metres away from City Square Mall (near to M'sia Customs), there is a shop selling delicious roasted pork and duck rice. The shop name should be... 十全烤鸭店, just next to a 美珍香。

It's recommended by my attachment buddy on a JB outing there...

Look down...

MmmmMmmm... We ordered 1/2 original roasted duck, 1/2 dangui roasted duck, a assorted plate of roasted pork (叉烧 & 烧肉), hotplate beancurd and 马来风光 (stir-fried kangkong with sambal chill) with a individual plate of rice with a choice of white rice or 油饭 (oily rice - the normal chicken rice we have). The slices of roasted duck is very tender and crispy at the skin! Going with the 卤汁 (stew sauce) and delivering it to my mouth, the taste is indeed fantastic! Same goes to the roasted pork assortment! The sizzling hotplate beancurd jumps in my mouth and it burns my tongue as I ate it too fast! I like the Kangkong dish too as the combination of the fresh Kangkong and spicy sambal chill is indescribable...

To complete the meal, we also got for ourselves their famous 竹蔗马蹄水 (brewed sugarcane with water chestnuts drink). We are surprised to find a sweet piece of carrot inside. Hahah... That's the one!

Fill our stomaches with delights and each of us have just required to fork out a stunning sum of RM 8 (equivalent to SGD 4). Really love the price!

Easter Day Chocolate Buffet @ 1 Rochester

I doubt many of us have heard of Rochester... or even been there? It's jus a 5-10 minutes from Buena Vista MRT Station. You need to keep a lookout for the road sign if not, you will never reach...

It's 'a-ta' (high-class in malay) place according to my ex-colleague cum foodie, Lydia. It is indeed! You can see quite a few caucasians' families came to dine there. As the restuarant is ornamented to the theme of cozy-ness with a tinge of trendiness, it's made the best place to chill-out.

We had the chocolate buffet which is their easter day special. Mmmm...so chocolatey! Definitely, a thick creamy fondue is not to be missed out. Marshmallows, apricots, strawberries halves, honeydew cubes and more fruits are lined up to be dipped! On top of the highlight, there are different kind of cakes to fill up our stomaches! In order to neutralised the sweet taste, fruity sorbets, pancakes, waffles are been offered.

MmmmMmmm...Indeed chocolicious!

The items in the menu looked good too! I love the service there as they will serve you with a bright smile and get your feedback for the food served.

Honestly, I will bring my friends there to chill-out but must make sure your wallet have enough money. Affordable for working adults but for students...a bit expensive. =D

Everyone will be wondering who is Mr Curry... He is nothing other than a new foodie hideout at Central Mall!

It's my cousin, Sokmin's 11th Birthday and we decided to dine at Clarke Quay. We chanced upon 'Mr Curry' as the Pepper Lunch Restaurant was closed for renovation.

I ordered her favourites... Crab Omelette Curry Rice, Mr Curry Mango Parfait & Mango Lassie. Her favourite fruit is Mango so I gave her a mango-fruity treat!

For the japanese curry sauce, you have a choice of original, black, creamy & red as well as self-select the level of spiciness. We choose original and spicy although 'Galgal' demands extra spicy... I find the crab omelette quite ordinary while the mango sauce side salad is good! We upsize and share it.

Mango Lassie is really excellent! Unlike the one we can get from hawker centre, it really very pasteurised and the fresh mango taste is very strong!

Dessert time! The crunchy cornflakes are being filled at the base. The next layer is the vanilla ice-cream topped with large mango cubes and mango syrup. And also quite ordinary...

Overall, we just love the 'kitchen-theme' environment and the cartoon character, Mr Curry and friends. We even took their paper coasters as the sudoku game is on it!

I think it's suitable for families with little kids!

As surprised as ever! The homemade ice-cream, that contains no preservatives, revive my senses! Know why? Unlike the usual ice-creams that are frozen to real hard... Unlike the usual flavours that we use to get... Unlike the expensive scoops of ice-cream that we have in grand ice-cream parlours... Jus, simply loving it! At the point of sampling!

With Fred and Desmond, the 3 of us went ahead to order a TUB with 3 delectable flavours! We were rather thick-skinned to try 3/4 of the flavours on display and finally decided on what we wanted!

My top favourites are Granny's Favourite & Chocolate Stout
(win the 2 out of 3 places in our tub)

Granny's Favourite...as the name infers definitely a all-time favourites for ice-cream lovers! The taste is rather rocky as it contains cookie dough and some other chewy sweet bites! Doo get that 'feel' of my grandparents bringing the little me for ice-cream!

MmMmm...Yummy!

Chocolate Stout blends the bitter Guinness stout into the sweet chocolate ice-cream. The taste is fantastic and be regarded as the best chocolate ice-cream that I had ever have!

Mmmmm...Yum Yum!

Lai Lai Kitchen @ Jurong Point Shopping Centre

Having a farewell dinner with my cousin who would be departing for Australia for Rope Skipping Championship at a age of 10! The trip is just 7 days but will mark down a meaningful page in her life to travel without parents at such a young age.

My cousin, aunt and me had a simple dinner at Lai Lai Kitchen in Jurong Point Shopping Centre. I had never have a chance to try their roast delicacies with rice/noodles as the location seem to be rather out-of-place!

My aunt ordered the Wanton Mee for each of us and a bowl of Dumplings soup to share among us. Mmmm! The noodles was springy and went with sauce very well (even with chill sauce added)! The highlight is the Char Siew sliced meat. It's not the ordinary one we have in the hawker centre; I can taste the texture of the meat and a tinge of 'roast taste'(comparable to the professional roast meat). As for the Wanton, the minced meat filling hidden within the thin skin is well-marinated and 'chewable' (not that usual coarse resilient texture) to my liking. This goes with the round Dumplings too! The portion they provided were rather big enough to fill my stomach (a bit more than what the hawkers provide)

The prices are a little more steep than the hawker centres and food courts. However, it's worth the price!

Traditional Chinese Wedding Cakes

Look familiar? These are the wedding cakes that the chinese wedding couples will order to 'inform' to their relatives and friends on their upcoming wedding! The cakes are given before the formal wedding after the ROM.

This culture could be created from the 1st generation of 'westernised' wedding, in replacing of the traditional chinese pastries. Nowadays, more creative creations of pre-wedding giveaways from different confectionaries. How creative that one would like to have, this greatly depends on the one's budget!

The cakes come in a standard rectangular shape. The designs are of a wide spectrum of colours and flavours! I love the one with green layers of cake and the one topped with chocolate chips! Do you?

I think I will order for my wedding next time! And a box for myself too!

Have a desserts-tryout with my brother at Far East. A new kid in the block that had attracted many customers to stop by for desserts. Besides the authentic desserts from Taiwan & HongKong, they create lunch sets for the busy office personnels to purchase.

Recently, I'm so in-love with the Hall 1 delicacies especially their desserts as the main canteen A and B don't have a decent desserts stall. Besides that, I also discovered the unique flavour of the various food stalls selling china originated recipes...

During the University Forum for BP Mentoring, we are offered Delifrance mini feuillété, magdelines, mini croissants filled with egg mayo/tuna/crab mayo, small section baguette with tuna/crab mayo at the pantry outside the function room.

As we know, Delifrance Singapore offers a wide range of authentic European delights to the local liking. I believe it's one of the pioneers to start off the cafe culture in Singapore as I remember my aunt brought me out to Delifrance to have a cup of hot chocolate. Wow... I'm at the BP Company at Keppel Bay for a University Forum. And... Let's me show you how fantastic is their pantry facilities and stock!

There're a big fridge containing all the different beverages (eg. milk, juices, soft drink), fruits and even ice-cream cones!!! Besides the fridge, there are conventional oven and microwave oven. As the company is riding on the 'green' trend, the paper cups are being replaced with porcelain cups and glasses. In case of emergency, a first sid box is installed in the pantry too!

Espresso coffee machine... The coffee powder and the filters are placed on the cupboards on top. Drinks! This are the ones in the display case that are to be opened if the one in the fridge is finished.
They even have breakfast delights like cornflakes, cereal, oats, nuts and raisins!

Wow!!! It's a pantry that everyone desires!

After shopping in Orchard, we decided to settle down somewhere in far east to eat before carrying on! And we chose Hans!

Hans actually provides All-Day-Set-Meals of a main course, a soup of the day, a drink and dessert. I feel their standard is dropping aside from the cakes and desserts that provide.

Naked Fish Express - Seafood Baked Rice

My brother, ruifeng and I was deciding what to eat for dinner in Bukit Panjang Plaza... We are attracted to this small shop selling Fish & Chips and Baked Rice sets.

We decided to get the Seafood Baked Rice set which cost $6.00 nett with a ice-lemon tea drink. Besides their Baked Rice sets, their top seller is Fish & Chips. After we sat down, many people was queuing to takeaway Fish & Chips.

The kitchen is located just besides the sitting area where we could see what's on going in the kitchen. Here it come! Covered totally with melted cheese, the seafood (calemarie rings, big fish fillet, prawns) filled the layer beneath the cheese! MmmMmmm.... They used fried rice instead of plain rice to bring out the ocean flavour.

Given the generous portion, the cheese and the rice don't go together with each other well. The rice is a bit too dry that we have to go with chilli sauce. The tomato puree paste should be added to the rice then topped with the bits of cheese before sending to the oven. This is to retain the moisture in the rice during baking.

After all, it's still nice and affordable! Maybe next, I shall try their top seller!

Green Beancurd

MmmMmm... I had never seen a bowl of beancurd which is coloured green! I think it's Pandan flavoured but it's not that strong to be detected.

This is sold in a beancurd stall near to Choa Chu Kang Interchange which is rather famous among cck supper gangs. The beancurd sold is smooth and soft to be dissolved in one's month! I love green and beancurd so this caught my attention and had 'enchanting' me!

A bright and youthful ambience the restaurant provides to induce one's appetite! They offered a wide variety of pasta...MmmmMmm...They even offered Student Meals to attract more youngsters to their restaurant!

The cold chewy noodles will have soaked in the miso jap soya sauce soup base and then...sent it straight to my mouth! Hmmm...didn't realise the combination is that unique and nice! The tempura prawns are cripsy on the outside and freshy fresh beneath.

The variety show, 食足大马 Makan Kakia Go Malaysia, showcase the famous delicacies in the gourmet districts of Malaysia. It actually attracts my attention since I've a batch of Malaysian friends and I would be going Malacca then. But! I miss the Malacca episode and since the 1st episode! Only manage to watch yesterday episode 7 to eat in Ipoh!

什麽是美食？我们一般常说的「美食」，是一个十分广泛而模糊的概念，如果说「好吃的食物」都是美食，广义而言，也未尝不可。古希腊哲学家伊比鸠鲁（Epicurus）曾表达了他对美食的热爱：「每一种善的起源与根基都来自胃的舒适愉悦，甚至智慧与文化也与此息息相关」。「民以食为天」更是自古流传的不变法则。尽管人们对於美食的欲望皆雷同，但对於美食的愉悦却是不一致的。就是有这种无形的动力，推动着美食不断的传承与创新。

对每一个国家而言，在非洲或是其他第三世界，美食是一种奢求，能吃得饱就是一种不可多得的幸福；在法国，美食是一种生活上的艺术；在日本，美食是一种生活上的态度；在新加坡，美食是一种基本的要求；在马来西亚，美食又是怎麽一回事？

两位「食足」（Makan Kakis）北上马来半岛，走访西海岸最主要的五个华人城市，亲身体验这些跟自己看似熟悉丶却也陌生的食物，究竟是如何与自己的「味觉」与「胃觉」建立沟通的脐带。

Malacca Delicacies 7: Dim Sum Breakfast

Before we left for Singapore, Adrian brought us to the nearby dim sum stall to take breakfast!

To Singaporeans, Dim Sum is rarely eaten because it's expensive as compared to the normal fare for breakfast amounting to a couple of dollars only. Normally, a meal of dim sum might cost S$30-S$50 for a family of five.

As for the 5 of us, we only spend RM37+! That's why, everytime when my family enter malaysia... For breakfast, we will definitely eat dim sum!

Malacca Delicacies 5: Chicken Rice Balls

For Breakfast, we headed down to the famous Chicken Rice Balls Stall in Jonker Walk near to the Melaka River.

Each of us are handed with a plate of 5 chicken rice balls. Just like normal chicken rice, definitely can go with chicken pieces and preferrably chilli/black sauce. Hmmm...Just have to cut up the chicken rice balls instead of scooping the rice on the spoon.

My style of eating is to cut up the rice ball, put a little of the chicken sauce from the chicken pieces, add a small piece of tender chicken and lastly add a slice of cucumber also!...then next step is to send the whole thingy to my mouth and chew and chewww....! MmmmMmmm...

It's a must must try from Melaka and only from this stall. If not, you might losing out something that's superior!

Practically, on every street, you can see signboards at the shop front selling Baba Chendol & Laksa. It's only available in Malacca as the Chendol is topped with coconut milk and 'thick'

Malacca Delicacies 3: Supper at Mamak Stall

After Xie Wei, Shah Kiat & Chong Chin arrived, we headed for supper immediately to rescue their growling tummies!

Locally, the Mamak stalls are opened until very late for supper-chiongsters! They served roti channai, satay, malay food and indian-muslim food too... Hmmm...! Unlike Singapore, it don't have a bustling nightlife. It's good on the other hand as one could enjoy the calmness; loosen the tense muscles after work/school.

Singapore also has! But we called it's 24 hours kopitiam/coffee shop. Rarely, you could see any youngsters there. Most probably, you can only see the uncles there 'la kopi' (stirring their cup of coffee). Singapore youngsters do enjoy nightlife by online gaming, supper at geylang/24 hrs hawker centres, clubbing and pubbing...

On the 2nd day, for lunch , we went to eat Baba-Nonya Cuisine at a famous restaurant named Ole Sayang!

Located at Melaka Raya, it's not only famous for its authentic Baba-Nonya food, it attracts visitors/tourists to view displays of old furniture/antiques and the owners' ancestors portraits whereby they are dressed in the china official clothes (hand-drawn by artists in the ancient dynasty period) & their black-and-white photos of them wearing the authentic baba & nonya clothings.

The restaurant also attracts press media to have their food variety show recorded. For instance, we spotted a certificate from the channel U gourmet show - U优选美食王.

Food Recollection During Overseas IA - KL/PJ delights

On my past trip to Malaysia on Dec 2006, it's my polytechnic overseas IA and company retreat one after another. I was snapping and snapping photos in order to track my overseas IA progress and my food progress too...but just managed to my food encounter!

So...let's me show you the KL delights!

Original Penang Kaya Nasi Lemak

It's so called the 'branded' Nasi Lemak over at Malaysia. It costs me RM6.10 (equivalent to S$3.05). It's also quite pricey as compared to Singapore Nasi Lemak. Although the presentation is not good, I love their spicy & sweet chilli and fragrant rice! This is like my 1st time eating Nasi Lemak with plain hard boiled egg!

Green Kueh with shreds of coconut

This is the Green Kueh I buy from my 'house' supermart downstairs. I just love green kuehs for the colour as I feel they taste the best! It costs me only RM0.40 (equivalent to S$0.20 only!)

A & W Fastfood

If you show any Singaporean this picture, they will scream and say I want it too! A & W fastfood branches had evacuated from Singapore long ago. A lot of us miss their very-very-nice curly fries and root-beer float (in which macdonalds coke/spirit float can't beat it)! Are you screaming now?

Dim Sum （点心）

In Singapore, Dim Sum is a luxurious breakfast we will go for. In Malaysia, it's very common to see on the streets especially kopitiams and it's very cheap too! That's why I was stuffing myself with the variety of dishes!

It's the same as Singapore. Just a slight difference in the pricings due to currency conversion.

Pasar Malam Food!

My colleague bought me to the weekend pasar malam near a PJ big sports place. In the picture above, there's Penang Prawn Noodles, Peanut Paste （芝麻糊）, Hum Chim Peng & You Ja Gwai （油炸鬼）... In particular, I love the malaysian style Hum Chim Peng whereby on the middle there's sweet glutinous rice. I love the combination of soft-inside and crispy-outside bread with sticky rice!

Chinese Yam Cake with Diced Preserved Radish （芋头糕）

You'll never see this in Singapore whereby the topping of the Chwee Kueh （水粿） is as the topping of the piece of Yam Cake! Normally, we go with sweet sauce, chilli sauce with sprinkle of white sesame seeds. It was a treat from my domintory owner.

See the difference? It's nicer than Singapore's especially with the nice packaging and magic straw! It was given to me by the roommate as she's working with Yakult.

The manager of the Alpha Business Suites, in which my company rented a place from them, gave me and my colleague, Angie a treat.

Flower Teas

I really love this beverage as the flower will 'bloom' from the bud after adding hot water. Another delightful sight of it is that the flower will sway with the movement of the water!

Steamed Glutinous Rice Dumplings with Chinese Ham

OH! This is nice and never will I see this in Singapore. Maybe only Malaysia & Shanghai! The sticky glutinous rice (adding in black sauce and flavourings) with strips of chinese ham is added on the thin translucent skin and mould into this form... it's indeed a art of food!
Steamed Dumplings Stuffed with Crab Roe and Pork

This restuarant had generous portions of crab roe in their dumplings (if you could see the bits of orangy). The minced pork is tender (if it's tender mean the fats are added too) but not too oily. The essence from the filling fill the interior of the dumpling. So when you eat, there's a burst of 'soup'... MmmmMmmm....

A dish of savoury Nian Gao had not been tried by me before. So, it's my 1st time with it! Definitely delicious! Eating the chewy Nian Gao with the veggie instead of the 'fritter-type'!

Weird Name... But it's nice as I love satay sauce with particular any savoury food. The refreshing cucumbers strips neutralise the spicyness of the dish. MMmmmm!

I brought my mummy and papa to try the kopi at the youngsters' favourite coffeehouse (known to us as cafe)... Coffee Beans! All of us were shocked when the small size Daily Brew I ordered, appear to be such a big cup!

Here...I asked my parents:

I: How is the kopi? Suitable to your taste?
Mummy: Hmmm...too big a cup but the coffee is more fragrant than the kopitiam one.
Papa: Same here; the coffee they give is more than sufficient. As compared to the kopitiam's portion, the coffee is really too much to keep a person awake. I feel the coffee not 'thick' enough to my taste; too watery.

Hahah...! Bring your parents to Coffee Beans, Starbucks or any cafes to let them try out the 'ang-mohs' kopi!

Just back to Bukit Timah Food Centre with my family for dinner dine-out! This was the usual makan place with my coursemates after school/during breaks as Ngee Ann Polytechnic was just a couple of metres away.

MmmMmmm... I queued about 45 mins for the super famous Sin Chew Satay Bee Hoon. The food is definitely worth the time queueing! My brother also tried the black pepper chicken shop at Peter's Pan Western Food. The food displayed on the plate really attracted us! We also tried the delicious 'smoothy-softy' bean curd and popian with crunchy crumbs inside!

My aunt organised a dine-out at my cousin's restaurant, Amber Restaurant in Little India; providing Authentic Indian & Nepalese cuisine. The restaurant is just besides Broadway Hotel. It's also conveniently located near to Farrer Park MRT station and Broadway Hotel bus stop. Here we are....trying out what the restaurant has! My cousin mentioned that after running the restaurant a few years, they have a batch of regular customers that love their food!

Appetizer: Papadums with greeny sauce (consists of coriander leaves, chilli & mint leaves)

After dipping the sauce, the crispy papadums has its 'oilyness masked'. Which means...one will not get sick of that easily.

Drink: Pasteurized Mango Lassi

I really love the Lassi here. I tried in the other stalls and it's not as pasteurized as this. I can really feel the real mango taste!

Drink: Indian Beer

It's more bitter than the common beers in Singapore as herbs are added.

Appetizer: Fried Momo with spicy tomato sauce

Haha..the 1st though of it is the indian version of 汤包 (dumplings that hold soup with the meat filling with the 'skin') The speciality is the addition of spices and herbs to the meat filling.

Appetizer: Steamed Momo with spicy tomato sauce

Same as the Fried momo. But Steamed one can feel the original taste of it!

Main Course: Shish tawook/Shish Kebab (yogurt marinated chicken grilled on a stick)

The thick creamy yogurt coagulated to coat the chicken pieces...it really bring out the tenderness of the meat.

Main Course: Tandir kebabi (Tandoori Kebab)

This dish is for spicy-chiongsters! It's really spicy. Although the exterior is dry with the seasonings, the interior is moist and tender.

Stewed Curry Lamb

The lamb is really soft and really absorb the essence of the thick gravy

Main Course: Nasi Briyani (using Basmati Rice) & Spinach Chicken

The Nasi Briyani is different from the one we had in canteens, food courts and kopitiams. They mixed Basmati rice into the cooking so that the combination is authentic and unique!

Main Course: Savoury Naan (cheese/garlic)

Wow...I love that! Chewy, Buttery, Thick & Moist! (interect with your teeth & tongue very well)
Unlike those I've previously, which is dry, hard and thin...

Main Course: Fried Paneer Dish

I don't know it is cottage cheese after the 1st bite. It just tastes like hard tofu.
Quite suitable for non-cheese lovers!

Desserts: Pistachio & Cherries stuffed Naan (known to my cousin as 'indian fruit cake')

I love sweet stuffs! This is really caught my eye! I'm very full with the previous dishes and still chewing on this! The crunchy nuts with the finely-chopped sweet cherries are inside the chewy naan! Ahhh...'undescribable'!

Tea after meal: Masala Chai

It's nice to have a cup of tea after the meal to ease digestion. It has a contracting taste from english tea; a strong herbal taste after sipping...

During any special temple festivals, the temple will provide free vegetarian meals to devotees who would like to try out vegetarian food or taking vegetarian food to join the temple festivals. And... When I was having lunch at Canteen B, I always see many people were holding this bun in their hands. In my mind, I was wondering...is it that tasty?? And Finally got a chance to try it during my special sem as that stall always has a long beeline during sch sem.

After a quick snap of it, I bite into the bun... The outer layer/skin is being handmade so the thickness is not even; quite nice... On the other hand, I feel the meat filling is too bland. The meat filling consists of minced pork, shredded cabbage and onion bits. The add-in of cabbage is uncommon among the 'singapore' pau. So...do encourage you to join in the queue and get to taste yourself! =D

A couple of years back, there's a heated discussion about the stalls selling katong laksa. A few stalls in the Katong Area claimed how original their laksa recipe is and ... Anyway, *put aside that*, I got a chance to try out this famous stall - 328 katong Laksa which attracts a lot of celebrities and tourists to come makan! Small - $3.50 & Medium - $4.50

You can choose to eat by the roadside to experience the old times laksa eating experience or can just walk in to the air-conditioned area to enjoy the bowl of delicious laksa in 'luxury'. In the air-conditioned area, photos of newspaper cuttings and with the famous celebrities/personnel are pasted everywhere! Say no more...quick eat!!

Ahh... the Katong Laksa is here! The speciality of Katong Laksa is that they only offer spoon so that the foodie could eat chewy noodles and drink the curry-based soup at the same time. If you can't take spicyness, you can choose not to add chilli. On the other hand, if you are a 'hot-chilli', feel free to add teaspoons and teaspoons of sambal chilli. In the creamy spicy soup, the peeled prawns, 'lightly-cooked' clams, fresh beansprouts, strips of fishcake surfaced as I stir!

During the retreat at Aranda Country Club, we went out for Supper at Bedok 85 Market. It's a well-known food centre among the 'easterners' as well as the supper-chiongsters.

With recommendations from the easterner, Susan & north-easterner, Jarrod, we had Barbequed Stingray, Barbequed Sotong, Fried Carrot Cake without/with black sweet sauce (炒黑/白萝卜糕), Fried Oyster Egg (蚝煎), Barbequed Chicken Wings, Ngoh Hiang Prawn Fritter (五香虾饼), Bak Chor Mee (肉脞面) and last but not least the Ah Balling (Glutinous Rice balls) (汤圆) with Peanut Soup.

At People's Park Cooked Food Centre, there are a few famous Yong Tou Fu stalls...I was with the LDPians and only managed to find this authentic Hakka Yong Tou Fu stall. =D I've tried the Gao Ji Yong Tou Fu but it's just taste average.

There are 2 types of Yong Tou Fu as I know so far. The common type is to pick your own food items + going along with noodles(soup/dry)/rice. The other type is having fixed food items + noodles (soup/dry).

We tried this stall at the left end corner. The prices are fixed at $2.50, $3 & $4 according to the quantities. The $2.50 one is good enough to fill my stomach =D

The noodles are the chewy 'wanton-mee-type' of noodles. Its special point is topped with crispy Ikan Bilis! Since the noodles I ordered is dry-type, add in the given sweet sauce/chilli sauce will made the noodles taste better!

The soup is light and nice with the food items inside... Dip the food item in the given sweet sauce/chill sauce and send it straight to your mouth...Will bring out the 'feel' of what Yong tou fu is!

After meeting prof chui in Uni SIM, Adrian, Boon Yen & I walked all the way from SIM to Canteen 4 to eat the famous japanese food. Unfortunately, the stall was close as this is the study break before common test! We diverged our attention to the other famous stall, western food! So we have chicken cutlets rice & it's yummy!

Li Fang Auntie bought the famous Tiong Bahru Pau for my family as breakfast today while she joined my mum to do dumplings. MmmMmm...I know this stall is famous but I didn't realise how nice is their paus and snacks!

It's not the usual pau we have with the super-red minced-meat filling. The brown sweet sauce mix with the pieces of tender meat in the soft pau make the stall's pau(s) different from the rest!
叉烧酥 (Char Siew Puff)

The soft and 'brittle' external layer enclose the sweet minced char siew. MmmMmmm...
咖哩饺 (Curry Puff)

Oh...I see cubes of curry-flavoured potatoes, 1/4 boiled egg and shredded chicken... WOW!!
Sesame Balls (芝麻球)

This is different from the usual ones we see as the outside is covered with white and black sesame and the inside is filled with sweetened coconut shreds filling.

炸薄饼(Fried Popian)

On top of the crispy outer layer, the turnip filling is sweet and crunchy unlike the salty taste in the market.

I doubt any of the foodies wouldn't not know about this Famous Wanton Noodles, Potian! I first try it at the Graffiti Cafe in Hereens and it's ...way way back when I'm in my polytechnic days! Wow...Really fall in love at the first sight! What made the difference? It's their handmade noodles Handmade noodles are thicker than the usual 'factory-manufactured' noodles. I love the sauces in the 'dry version' of the noodles! Both flavours of original and spicy capture the hearts from youngs to olds!

In order to suit to their customers' tastes, they sold fried wantons and soup wantons. As we all know, the youngs love fried ones and the olds might prefer the soup one. Ahhh...Mayonnaise is only provided in Potian branchs to go with the fried wantons! From these, I can feel the love in the founder and team for Wanton Noodles as well as for their customers! Who know...Everyday, they'll shout 云吞面，万岁!

Celebrating 21st Bdae for Mianlin at Holland Village - El Patio Mexican Restaurant after the attractive introduction from the friendly staff. They provide FREE FLOW of warm tortilla chips and tangy salsa sauce + FREE REFILL of soft drinks! Wow...sound attractive? And indeed we are attracted and went in... =D

It's our 1st time trying Mexican cuisine besides eating Nachos with cheese. The menu highlights their specialities of chips and wraps that made ordering easy. Orders should be done as early so that the food could come fast. The staffs are friendly too; reacting to our requests fast.

At the Student Activities Centre, you can find this yummy bowl of Udon with a plate of teriyaki Chicken priced $3.50 only at the Halal Cafe there! Normally, a bowl of Chicken Udon outside cost $5+ and the chicken is shredded in the soup. Describing the look of it --> chewy Udon with mushrooms & crabsticks in the miso soup + sliced grilled chicken flavoured with teriyaki sauce and going with sides of fried yam and broccoli!!! I love the sweet teriyaki sauce that I dip the strands of Udon in it. It's a great enjoyment to have it as lunch/dinner with friends! MmmMmmm...

Boon Lay Market - Xiang Feng Nasi Lemak

Was lunching with my EID teammates at Boon Lay Market before setting off to buy the materials needing for EID project nearby. The longest queue formed in front of Xiang Feng Nasi Lemak caught my eye! Soon, I joined the queue out of curiosity (since the queue is that long, the nasi lemak should be very delicious!) After getting my order of the $2.50 set, I quickly returned to my seat waiting for the rest to return. Can't wait to taste it!

Ahh...mummm...*eat-in-process*... MmmMmmm... Although the pandan fragrant from the rice is not strong, the chill is the one that enhance the overall taste! Really love the chill! It's not that spicy (my threshold for 'spiciness' place at medium) and I can feel the flavouring from the dry shrimps! Besides the reasonable pricing, the stall gave generous portions of sides. I think that's their selling point to retain the daily beelines! If you happen to pass by, do join in the queue!!!

I was having dinner with Grace at Bugis after my makeover package for my 21st bdae! As most of the eateries have long beelines formed in front of their entrances. We found an place to eat at! It's at Fisherios. Some open-concept eateries with their own seating area. Thus, this brings convenience to the hungry 'ghosts' like us who don't like queueing. I ordered a grilled fish set with a drink and salad while grace ordered grilled salmon set with a drink. yumyum...Our sets cost less than $10 each but I feel the portion given is a bit small. =D

Do you know Canteen A is closed down for more library space and a new student plaza is built? The new student plaza houses fast food chains eg. Macdonalds, Subway and Canadian Pizza and all favourites...Old Chang Kee, The Palette - Western Food Cafe, Sakae Sushi, Executive Cafe - Chinese cuisine and a air-conditioned foodcourt named Broadway. I like the food court as you can see the sunset when you are having your dinner near the window!

Definitely, NTU students and staffs got more choices for breakfast, lunch, tea breaks and dinner!

According to my Malaysian friends, Ayam Penyet means crushed chicken. It's very true to a great sense... The chicken served are very tender that it's easily detached from the bones although they are fried.

This malay stall in the new canteen has gain recognition from students' mouths-to-mouths' words! It costs simply $3 with rice and a chicken part (guys may choose to add rice?). Besides the 'soft' chicken, the selling point is the neat decoration of the simple dish. The drumstick(topped with tiny crumbs) is placed on top of the banana leaf with cucumbers, fried tou fu slammed with generous amount of sambal chill, satisfying the 'pre-eating feel'. You can choose to add more sambal chill or the sweet indonesian sauce to further enhance the taste!

Water Rise is the 1st fast food chain to come up with the concept of pancake burger as I know as far... Its chain size is small and concentrated in the east. It's bad for the 'westerners' like me. I would always try their food when I'm going to downtown east for chalets/east coast park. The 2 locations that i know they have is at Pasir Ris, White Sands and East Coast, Marina Parade. You'll never know how nice is their pancake burger when you try it! The soft pancakes top-and-bottom match perfectly with the tangy meat in the middle! Thus, I find it nicer than the ordinary burgers available but can't fill one's tummy. So...get a set or add-on! And they do provide delivery like mcd, kfc, pizzahut...

Went to try with Huiping at the White Sands Branch... Huiping got a set + Potatoes Q while I just get a pancake burger....See below!

This stall in Takashimaya Food Basement sold Okonomiyaki (called as Modanyaki) which the shop name reflects. They provide 4 types of noodles: cheese with egg ($4.00) [recommended], with japanese sauce ($3.50), with tomato sauce ($3.50) and wrapped in omelette ($4.00). The noodles taste just like the typcial fried yellow noodles. The uniqueness came with the additional of sauces and spices which bring out the jap-flavours! Reasonable pricings and worth a try!

Giant Supermarket at IMM Shopping Centre always has this offer in the evening, after 7pm DAILY! I think the management has this 'permanent evening offer' to clear the perishable stock thus providing their customers the 'freshest' japanese cuisine - sushi and ingredients every morning, every day.

Sweetest Corn I've ever have!

Have a wacky look but this corn tastes super duper yummicious sweettttt....! According to my mummy, it cost $1.00+ for 2 cobs in supermarket. Worth for a try!

I actually made a passing remark that this is a hyrid corn but my younger brother say it's natural/normal corn. His claim is that corn seeds of the same colour has some genes modified. My claim is that corn seeds of the different colours will definitely be identified as hyrid/generic modified corn. What do you think?

Mummy's recipe - Breaded Pork Fillet filled with Cheese

The crispy breaded crust envelope the tender pork fillet. Cheese is contained in the midst of the fantastic creation. Oops...I think I sound too technical? Yummicious!...the moment I cut the fillet into halves, then melted cheese ooz out! And...there's no time for you to waste observing! Just send the fillet into my mouth! Feel the crispiness of the crust, the juicy springy meat and the cheeze blend!! MmMmmm...
